QUETTA: Nearly all parts of district Chaghai are still in grip of severe
drought due to persistent dry spell and the relief work by the Islamic Relief
(IR) is in progress there.
This was stated by senior Programme Coordinator of IR Wajahat Anwar in a news conference here on Thursday. He said that the drought situation with regard to the food in the drought-hit areas was below the satisfaction. Recent surveys and needs assessment indicate the situation has deteriorated in Chaghai, he said and added that in some villages all inhabitants were suffering from diseases like respiratory infections and Tuberculosis because of malnutrition. "This indicate poor access to food and raise alarms," he added. "We will continue our relief operation in the region in an attempt to alleviate the drought situation," he said.
